News > Heart of Gloucestershire Community Awards 2015
We are pleased to report that the recent Heart of Gloucestershire Awards was a huge success. As sponsors of the event, a small group of us from Ubico attended the awards held at Hatherley Manor Hotel. The weather was glorious and over two hundred people attended the event.
We were treated to an entertaining talk by the one and only 'Eddie the Eagle' Edwards who told us all about his experiences in the run up to the winter Olympics in 1988 where he represented Britain in the ski jump.
This was followed by the awards ceremony, where all finalists were featured in short video clips showing us all about the exceptionally kind and thoughtful things they do that makes such a difference to the lives of those around them. Each and every one of the finalists were deserving of winning an award in our eyes, however there could only be one winner. The winners were as follows:
Braveheart Award - George Hancox
Caring Hero 18+ Louisa Hopkins
Caring Hero Under 18 - Ciaron Lennon
Environmental Hero 18+ - Justin Perkins
Environmental Hero Under 18 - Park Junior School
Volunteer Hero 18+ - Ismail Mehter
Volunteer Hero Under 18 - Ben Langworth
Hero in the Community - Peter Timmins
Community Project - Glo Active
Public Sector Hero (non-uniformed services) - Craig Sherwood and Andy Jones
Public Sector Hero (uniformed services) - PCSO Sandra and Mark Jones
Heart of Gloucestershire Award - Ciaron Lennon
The picture above shows Ciaron Lennon, 14 being presented with the Heart of Gloucestershire award by Sonia Phillips of Cheltenham Borough Council, on behalf of Ubico Ltd.
