Race week madness!
It's race week in Cheltenham and Ubico teams are busy keeping the town looking its best!
As always, March is an incredibly busy time for our Cheltenham street cleaning department, getting everything in order before, during and after the Cheltenham Race Festival.
We've had plenty of experience over the years, working closely with our colleagues at Cheltenham Borough Council to ensure the town is kept clean and tidy. Ubico teams work around the clock litter picking, sweeping, emptying bins and dealing with ad hoc environmental emergencies.
Traffic management teams are employed to put lane closures in place along the Golden Valley byepass and Bamfurlong Lane so we can litter pick safely and with minimum disruption to other road users.
Ubico road sweepers are deployed early in the morning to sweep around traffic islands, splitters and roundabouts on key routes to the racecourse.
The day before the races we help coordinate the provision of extra toilets in the town and locate an additional 80 litter bins along access routes to the racecourse. These litter bins are emptied twice daily as a minimum to cope with the additional waste that is generated by an additional 250,000 people visiting the town.
As you can imagine it's an enormous operation, but we have years of experience providing the clean-up service and we like to think that it gets slicker each year.
