We are pleased to report that our multi-service contract with Stroud District Council commenced on Saturday 2nd July 2016.
Stroud District Council (SDC) became a shareholder in the company back in February 2016, when we started collecting garden waste for the authority. All of SDC's domestic waste and recycling has now transferred over to Ubico, along with street cleaning and grounds maintenance services.
All staff employed by the previous service provider, Veolia, have transferred into the company and will continue to work on the contract as they had prior to the transfer.
From a resident's perspective, the collections will continue on a 'business as usual' basis. The only changes visible to the public at the moment will be new staff uniforms and a new fleet of vehicles.
The commencement of this contract has increased our staff numbers to around 450 and our projected turnover is now in excess of £25 million by 2017/18.
Ubico now collects household waste and recycling from over 185,000 households in Gloucestershire alone. As well as the household collections, the company operates a very large grounds maintenance and street cleaning operation covering an area of over 1,200 square miles across Gloucestershire and West Oxfordshire.
